Buda Castle Official Website

Direct links to the official sites for the Royal Palace, the Hungarian National Gallery, the Budapest History Museum and the Castle Hill Funicular — what each one offers, and how this site differs. We are an authorised reseller — not the museum itself.

This page links to the official sites that run the various parts of Buda Castle — institutional information, online collections, research access, press enquiries. For booking, the same tickets are available here with free 24-hour cancellation in multiple languages. See also our visitors guide.

Official websites

Where to find them

Buda Castle is not one institution but several. The Royal Palace administration runs budacastle.hu with information about St Stephen's Hall and the wider restoration projects. The Hungarian National Gallery (mng.hu) and the Budapest History Museum (btm.hu) each have their own official sites. The Castle Hill Funicular is run by BKV — bkv.hu.

What the official sites offer

Searchable online collections of every painting and artefact, often in zoomable high resolution. Exhibition calendars stretching months ahead. Research access for academics and curators. Education programmes for schools and adults. Membership and annual passes. Press, image-licensing and group-booking enquiries.

How this site differs

This site exists to make booking faster, with a clearer mobile experience, in more languages and with flexible cancellation up to 24 hours before your slot. Tickets here include the same museum admission as those bought direct. For institutional questions, research access or membership, use the official sites.

Phone enquiries to the palace: +36 1 458 3010, Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–17:00.

Official Website FAQ

Tickets, contact, and what is each official site

Is this the palace's official site?
No. The official sites are budacastle.hu (palace), mng.hu (National Gallery) and btm.hu (Budapest History Museum). We are an authorised reseller offering tickets in multiple languages with flexible cancellation.
Are the tickets the same?
Yes — both include the same museum admission and the same St Stephen's Hall slot. The booking experience, languages and refund terms differ.
How do I contact the museum directly?
Through the contact forms on each official site, or by phone at +36 1 458 3010 (palace administration), Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–17:00.
Where can I see the full online collection?
The Hungarian National Gallery online collection at mng.hu includes high-resolution images of every painting and sculpture; the Budapest History Museum has a similar searchable archive at btm.hu, with zoomable detail for many objects.
How do I become a member?
Annual membership is managed via the official sites of each museum separately. The Budapest Card also gives free or discounted entry to many Castle Hill sights — see budapestinfo.hu for the current 2026 options.
Can I get press accreditation here?
No — press requests must go through the press office of each museum via the official sites.
Where can I license images of paintings?
Image licensing is handled by each museum's rights department directly via the official sites — the National Gallery, the Budapest History Museum, or the palace administration depending on the object.
